Giving Help 2023 – support to the German Lifeboat Society

As the Christmas season approaches,  we’d like to bring one particularly noteworthy charitable initiative to your attention.

Since its establishment in 1865, crews of the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger / DGzRS) has rescued about 85,000 people from distress or freed them from life-threatening situations at sea. For this purpose they maintain a fleet of about 60 modern rescue cruisers and boats at 55 bases.

DGzRS undertakes its service entirely and exclusively through voluntary donations, without state funding.

About 180 professional and more than 800 volunteer rescuers are available around the clock and in any weather. They bring help and see themselves by no means as heroes – on the contrary: They act selflessly and voluntarily. Their and their donor’s commitment make DGzRS one of the most sophisticated sea res cue services in the world.

But rescuers need help, too – that’s why in 2023 we are again supporting the sea rescue service. And we invite all visitors of our website to join in this good cause.
